A day to rest and eat cheat meals

What is a rest day? For some it is sitting down on the couch watching TV. For some people it's only running 10 miles because they are used to running 30 and 40 daily.
What is a cheat meal? For some people it is eating an entire pizza and drinking sodas. For some it is eating extra 2 oz of tomatoes or more pasta.
Today I will not do anything more extreme than one P90X workout. For the last two days I have been working out for eight hours before my eight hour work shift.
I will do something that is active today. I need to till up my garden so I can plant my vegetables. It is a beautiful day so I'll probably go ride my bike. And most likely I will go on a 4 mile walk on the bike trail.
Some people think my free day is more extreme than their workout day.

KenpoX

It is hard to explain how happy I feel. My body is so sore it's insane. I feel muscles that I've never felt before. And yet I have more energy than I have ever had before.
This program makes you strong. You gain a lot of muscle while losing body fat. One thing I have noticed is that "scale weight" does not go down right away. And another important fact is that your total body inches will go down quicker than the scale weight will.
Total body inches is the true measurements of my fitness success. If you worry about scale pounds, you will fail your fitness journey. 5% scale weight, 30% body fat, 30% total body inches, 30% the way your clothes fit and 5% care about your nose hair.
As you can see, worrying about scale weight is about the same as worrying about your nose hair. It should not cross your mind all the time. There are other things to look at to determine how well you are doing on your fitness journey.

Feeling stronger

Even though I am sore, I am feeling very strong. And I believe that that is the reason why I am doing what I'm doing. I am not trying to fit into skinny jeans. I'm not trying to look good in my bathing suit. I want to become stronger and more fit. With all that said, I do not care if the scale is going up or down.

My main goal is to be extremely strong by my birthday in June.

If I am getting stronger every day, it's just natural that my body will trim down and look better within 90 days.

More Friends starting

Great news, I have more friends starting today. It looks like Mark is interested in doing a documentary style P90X with me. So even though I have already started I will continue my P90X but will do another 90 days starting today with Mark.

Work first then work out

Usually I will do a work out first thing in the morning, then I will go to work. But today is different. I am scheduled to work at 6:30 this morning and I felt that I needed to sleep in. Sleep is so important. It's like working out for your brain.
If I am too tired, I will not be able to concentrate at work nor will I be able to put in a full work out at the gym

I promised myself after work today, at 2:30 PM, I will go to the gym and I will hike up a mountain.

No excuse cooler

It is really easy to stop at a fast food restaurant to pick up something quick in the morning, at lunch and even before you get home from work. How do you combat such an easy way of eating? One way I have figured out is making sure I have a no excuse cooler packed in my car every day
I can text before I go to bed in the evening and it is easy enough for me to pack in the morning before I leave for work.

So what do you packing your no excuse cooler? What I pack is a bunch of fruit. Apples, oranges, pears, bananas and even grapes.

Many people say that fruit sugar is bad for you. I personally believe that we crave sweets and if we eat the sweets that nature has given us, then we are eating correctly. Why else would we be craving sweets if it was not good for us?
Does it raise my blood sugar levels? Does it cost me to have an insulin spike? I do not believe it's a huge spoke like processed sugars and even if it is, I believe that natural sugars are easier to break down and convert to energy then process sugars.

You may find it easier for you to pack a combination of fruits and vegetables that you enjoy eating raw. We need easily accessible food that is most natural. When I say natural I am talking about how it's produced by nature. If it is an apple, it is an apple not apple juice apple cider or applesauce. If we are talking about grapes, it is grapes on the vine. Not great juice, grape fruit roll ups, or anything else that you can buy in a box that a company has processed.
This approach to having all natural food around me has helped me lose 100 pounds and keep it off for years
I hope this helps you now and in the future. Rock on Fit

Sore but good

Really amazing how this soreness feels so wonderful. Most people associate soreness with pain. I associate soreness with feeling alive.
So what is your perception of soreness? After a good workout and you feel sore, do you feel wonderful? The answer of that question will usually be: I feel wonderful. If you answer the question "I hate feeling sore", you most likely will never want to work out again.

Day three, hump day P 90 X

It is hard to believe that only three days into my P90X challenge, my arms are extremely sore. I never would've thought that taking only a 30 day break in between my work out challenges would I regress so quickly.
That being said, if you have not worked out for three months or more, I would suggest you start off as if you have never worked out before in your life. What do I mean by that? I mean when you start lifting weights, lift a very light weight. When you start to run or jog or do cardio again, pretend this is your first time and let your body get used to it again. It is very true: if you don't use it, you lose it.

This challenge will be 90 days. After this 90 days is complete, I will do ShaunT insanity. Insanity is a 60 day program. Following the completion of insanity, I will follow it up immediately with a 30 day asylum.

This has to be a continued lifestyle. There is no taking a week, month, year off from being healthy and fit. It is either a lifestyle or it is not.

I am loving day 2

Im sore and happy to be sore. I finally figured out a very important part of weight loss and fitness: you have to biologically SET your normal weight.

Time for another round of P90X. This has to be a lifestyle or the weight will creep up on you again.

My biggest fail is thinking that once I lose the weight, it will stay off even if I stop P90X and go back to my normal diet. Now that is insanity.

P90X for 90 days then Insanity for 60 days followed by Asylum for 30 days. So that means I will be in the best shape of my life in 6 months!

Day 1

I am going to create an entire 90 day blog about my P90X transformation.
Today is day one and I did chest and back this morning. I woke up at 4 AM because I do not have time during the day to do such a thing.
This is also going to be the framework for my 6° of fitness book.

Fitness is not about working out and losing weight and being on a diet. Fitness is about being happy, healthy and being able to do things without being out of breath or feeling like you're exhausted.
It is very interesting that in our Constitution it says the pursuit of happiness. How many people actually follow the pursuit of happiness Theory?

How many people actually think doing 90 days of workout is happiness?

I have heard a lot of people telling me that working out for 90 days is extreme. I heard those same people tell me that eating healthy for 90 days is extreme. To me, personally I think that having a heart attack, and open heart surgery, bypass surgery is a little more extreme. I want to make sure that never happens to me.

So here is day one on my 90 days of fitness. Let's see what P90X and check out you can really do for me.
